CORAZON'S Custom Catering speaks of three guiding pillars: Family, Food and Comfort.
Spanning three generations, CORAZON'S was established to pay homage to the family roots and food is
very much connected to it. I should know, I am Charm, the third generation.
As a kid, I remember our 12:00nn Sunday lunches at our big brown round table with four dishes whether
it be the favorites Kare Kare, Lumpiang Shanghai to the classics Chicken Adobo and Pancit plus the rice
spinning in our 'lazy sussie' until it reaches my cousin or 'Papa', our grandfather, as we all call him. The
dishes were cooked everyday by 'Mama', our grandmother, once she comes home from teaching. Fresh
produce and meat were sourced on a daily basis every morning to be prepared for lunch and dinner. For
birthdays, parties and holidays, 'Tita Bubbles', the youngest of three, took charge in the kitchen and her
specialty baked pasta was a crowd pleaser and a must for every occassion.
Growing up, it catch on to me as well. I was in gradeschool when my parents enrolled me in baking classes during the summer. During the
summer months, I regularly tuned in to cooking shows in the afternoon and took up Culinary Arts as my elective for my senior year in
highschool. It made me want to explore more than baking and home cooking. Fortunately, I was able to take up culinary arts. It is true, "the
eyes eat first"; if it is pleasing to the eyes, chances are it tastes good. I kept this in my heart along with our family's home cooking, culinary's
guiding principles and essentials.
Putting up CORAZON'S Custom Catering was definitely not an easy task. Four years and counting, we are still evolving and learning this
craft.
